Choosing the affordable webhost provider

Featured

Finding the cheapest webhost is a difficult task. I began the quest to find the cheapest webhost recently and came across lots of penny hosts, or one dollar hosts or similar, really cheap webhosting!

The problem was that I quickly found that some of the really cheapest webhosts shut your site down fast if you get too much traffic or use too much bandwidth.  So using my experience of using quite alot of cheap webhosts I decided to write up my recommendations onto this blog.

The first host I want to recommend based on cheap price, speeds, features and doing what is says on the tin is Server Pronto. For the price they charge for the plans and each one has a real free domain I found this provider trustworthy and good value.  I especially like their “Power” plan, I have copyed / pasted the details of that plan below from their site:

This server meets the demands of many of our power users whose budget still calls for a discount price. Enjoy a dual-core 64-bit Athlon processor, more RAM, more storage space, and more bandwidth, all for under $80 a month. See the order page for available upgrades.
*AMD Athlon II X2

*2GB RAM

*500GB HDD SATA2

*10TB Traffic

*100Mbps Connection

Here are some of the examples of the sites that are hosted there:

auto painting prices | auto parts denver | bed covers for trucks | best place to buy tires | car alignment cost | teaching strategies list | paint jobs for cars prices | 1998 toyota corolla parts | agatha christie book list | most fuel efficient truck | used tires columbus ohio | customize your own car online | colleges in New York state | muffler repair cost | car water damage | nissan oem parts | tires st. louis | home network gateway | oil change locations | mazda parts online | how to change a flat tire | how to fix a leaky shower faucet | Dallas universities and colleges | stent in heart | timing belt replacement | transmission fluid | what is ged | cheap cottage rentals ontario

Go ahead and check out their website for more plans and options

PSP

It has been 2 days since the PSP launch and all I can relate it to is my 21st birthday. I spent a while looking forward to this day, the day arrives and it doesn’t live up to the hype, then slowly over time I realize the importance of the day.

When I opened the PSP, it was a sight for the eyes. Then messing around with it, I realized that this was not the solid piece of hardware that I expected. I expected ejecting a UMD to be less of a traumatic experience for the device and that putting the battery cover on would have more constraints to prevent someone from not putting in on correctly.

First game I played was Lumines. That is a beautiful game to play and very addictive. I then played Twisted Metal which allowed me to see a bit better how the PSP graphics really were. Wow. It looks great. I would say it looks better than Mario 64 DS. After playing Twisted Metal, I was a little more pleased with my purchase.

Yesterday, I had lunch with an old buddy from work whom also got a PSP. We decided to test out the wireless capabilities of the PSP. What a great experience that was. We were able to play against each other in Lumines with just a flip of a switch (the WLAN toggle switch). It was so easy and great.

Oh wait, the PSP is not just a gaming device. When 1GB Memory Stick show their face on the market again, I plan on getting one. I want to use this device as a digital photo wallet to show off pictures of my daughter. I also want to plug into the PSP’s video playback capability. There are some great online resources already out on how to convert video files for the PC to the PSP. Since I really can’t store anything that great on the provided 32MB memory stick, this will have to wait.

So I am really starting to enjoy this device and seeing its place in the future of portable gaming.

Brushing Up the Basics – When to Repair or Replace Your IPod

The iPod, amazingly, is no longer looked at as a showy trinket. A number of industry experts called this product as the icon of the decade and you don’t need to imagine much to know the reason why. Evidently, the ipod device can be your portable data content library, holding several of your chosen music, video clips and other software programs. Apart from having fun with the gizmo, it is vital to maintain and preserve it too. Yet like all digital gadgets, they can break down, crack and die specifically when significantly exposed to water, humidity and the crushing high temperature. When this happens, you may want to make a decision between repairing your iPod and buying a a different one.

For fixing an iPod, there are various elements that you need to know. Naturally, you will need to ensure that the gadget repair which you will receive is completed by an authorized, well-trained, qualified and knowledgeable individual. A number of consumers commonly feel convinced that all fixing ought to be done with respect to the maker’s specifications and configurations and that end users tend to go to the manufacturer at this time. Moreover, it is ideal to find somebody who grants iPod repairs for every type of demands including iPod water damage, broken monitors, cracked enclosures, the unit’s ruined buttons, battery problems and software glitches as this can be a clue that the supplier is truly aiming for service quality in the repair business. This equally presents another outlet to their service when you need it later.

In contrast, fixing the unit might appear like a good option initially but this may end up creating a hole in your expenses particularly if the iPod keeps breaking down. In this case, your best choice would be to puchase a completely new iPod. With well over one hundred bucks, you may now get hold of that new Apple product collectively with its recent upgrades and extra accessories.

Save Internet Radio!

My job is boring. I wile away in back of a desk waiting for questions to arrive via email or telephone. I spend my time listening to music. I do listen to the some that I bring from home, but generally I just tune in to pandora.com, Radio Paradise, WXPN, or one of the other hundred of stations that broadcast via the Internet. Sadly certain government agencies have decided that royalties need to be raised.

From WXPN.com:

The survival of Internet radio is threatened by the Copyright Royalty Board’s decision to drastically increase rates for streaming music online. The rule change is so severe that it could force most noncommercial and independent webcasters out of business. This decision ignored the wishes of artists, Internet entrepreneurs and countless listeners. If it is not reversed immediately, the variety and diversity of music online will disappear. WXPN strongly urges you to support the bipartisan “Internet Radio Equality Act of 2007,” introduced in the House by Reps. Jay Inslee (D-Wash.) and Donald Manzullo (R-Ill.), and in the Senate by Sens. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) and Sam Brownback (R-Kan.). This legislation would overturn the Copyright Royalty Board’s bad decision and put in place a fair system that compensates artists without destroying new musical outlets and public radio online.

WXPN has created an online petition to sign.

I highly encourage you to sign, as well as contact your local representative or Senator to voice your support for the Internet Radio Equality Act of 2007.

SaveNetRadio is a valuable resource for information on the topic.

Art vs. Fashion

Artblog.net has some great words about Fashion overrunning art talk. I couldn’t agree more. There is a discourse about art that has been mainly concerned with
1. Installation = window decorating
2. Video art = background projection for fashion
3. Painting = scenesters vs. cutesters
4. Drawing = irony and grown up children
6. Sculpture = OCD nostalgia

These are some trends I have been noticing in the art world and Richmond. I hope we don’t sink into them forever. I do however, find that if you are working on contemporary issues in projects it is hard not to adopt or utilize the aesthetics and languages of Fashion and pop culture. I don’t have an answer for this one. But I will bring it up with my students in my drawing class. Maybe they know the answer, esp. if they are non art majors. (he he)
